Profile Cut Wizard

The Profile Cut Wizard is used to machine material around a defined profile area, leaving the profile itself uncut.

This is commonly used for creating pockets or clearing material while protecting a specific shape.

Parameter Descriptions

Name

This is the name used to describe the wizard.

It is displayed on the F5 – Conversational page.

Tool No

This is the tool number used to machine the part.

Tool Diameter

This is the diameter of the cutting tool used for the profile operation.

Spindle RPM

This is the spindle speed used during machining.

Cutting Feedrate

This is the feed rate used for X and Y axis cutting moves.

Z Feedrate

This is the feed rate used for Z axis movements.

Z Clearance

This is the height above the material that the Z axis moves to when travelling between cuts.

Depth of Cut

This is the depth of material removed per pass.

The total number of passes is determined by dividing the difference between Z Start and Z End by the depth of cut.

X Start

This is the X-axis work coordinate where machining begins.

The tool is offset inward from this position by the tool radius.

X End

This is the X-axis work coordinate where machining ends.

The tool is offset inward from this position by the tool radius.

Profile X Start

This is the X-axis work coordinate where the profile begins.

This area will not be machined.

The tool is offset outward from this position by the tool radius.

Profile X End

This is the X-axis work coordinate where the profile ends.

This area will not be machined.

The tool is offset outward from this position by the tool radius.

Y Start

This is the Y-axis work coordinate where machining begins.

The tool is offset inward from this position by the tool radius.

Y End

This is the Y-axis work coordinate where machining ends.

The tool is offset inward from this position by the tool radius.

Profile Y Start

This is the Y-axis work coordinate where the profile begins.

This area will not be machined.

The tool is offset outward from this position by the tool radius.

Profile Y End

This is the Y-axis work coordinate where the profile ends.

This area will not be machined.

The tool is offset outward from this position by the tool radius.

Z Start

This is the Z-axis work coordinate where machining begins.

This is typically set to the top surface of the material.

Z End

This is the Z-axis work coordinate where machining finishes.

This represents the final desired height of the material.

Save

This saves the wizard parameters and returns you to the F5 – Conversational page.

If any parameters are missing or incorrect, MASSO will display and highlight the affected fields.

Cancel

This cancels all changes and returns you to the F5 – Conversational page without saving.

Tab Key Navigation

On MASSO G3, users using an external keyboard can press the Tab key to move through parameters one at a time, reducing the need to use a mouse.
