MASSO Link

Connection Problems

This section covers connection issues at the MASSO controller and between MASSO Link, myWorkshop, and your PC.

WiFi Module Not Found

  1. Turn MASSO OFF.

  2. Unplug the WiFi module, then plug it back in.

  3. Ensure the pins are correctly aligned with the socket.

  4. Reseating the module helps clean the pins and ensure good contact.

  5. Turn MASSO ON and check the WiFi screen.

If the “WiFi Module not found” message remains, please contact MASSO Support.

myWorkshop Not Connecting

Fixed IP Address Issues

  • An incorrect Fixed IP address will show the network as connected, but your PC will not be able to connect to MASSO.

  • Untick Fixed IP address and allow the network to automatically assign:

    • IP address

    • Subnet mask

    • Gateway

Once the connection is working, you may re-enter these values manually if required.

Managed Networks

  • If connecting MASSO to a managed network, contact your network administrator.

  • Network restrictions or duplicate IP addresses can block access and cause conflicts.

Connection Requirements

  • MASSO Link uses:

    • IP address

    • Subnet mask

  • myWorkshop uses:

    • IP address

    • Subnet mask

    • Gateway

If myWorkshop cannot connect, the network may be blocking outbound internet traffic from MASSO.

Test:

  • Connect MASSO to a mobile phone WiFi hotspot

  • Ensure Fixed IP address is unticked

  • If it connects, the issue is with the original network configuration

MASSO Link PC Connection Problems

These issues occur after MASSO has a network connection.

Firewalls

  • PC firewalls may block communication between MASSO Link and MASSO.

  • Temporarily disable the firewall to test the connection.

INFORMATION: Anti-virus software may include its own firewall that overrides Windows Firewall. Temporarily disable anti-virus software to test.

MASSO Link and MASSO Software Versions

You must use the correct MASSO Link version for your MASSO software.

MASSO Software VersionRequired MASSO Link Version
v5.13v2.12 or v2.14
v5.06v2.11

  • Older MASSO Link versions will not connect.

  • If running v5.06 or earlier, update to v5.07 or later.

MASSO Link can be downloaded HERE

macOS

A recent update to macOS Sequoia v15.5 introduced a firewall issue that blocks traffic between MASSO Link and MASSO.

  • Temporarily disable the firewall to confirm the issue.

  • This is an Apple issue and requires a macOS update to resolve.

Keep Your Software Up to Date

  • If MASSO Link locks up, update to the latest main release.

  • The latest software versions can be found HERE

Software Install Folder (Windows)

Do not install MASSO Link in: "C:/Program files"

Windows permissions can cause issues.

Recommended:

  • Create a folder in the root of the drive

  • Install MASSO Link there, as shown in the install videos

Dual Monitor Issues

If MASSO Link does not start and you are using two monitors:

  1. Turn off one monitor.

  2. Start MASSO Link.

  3. Move MASSO Link onto the active monitor and close it.

  4. Turn the second monitor back on.

  5. Restart MASSO Link.

Upgrading MASSO Link

When upgrading from an older version:

  • Delete the old MASSO_Link.dat file

  • Failure to do so will cause an error on startup

MASSO Link Connects but Cannot Send Files (Windows 11)

This issue has been identified on some Windows 11 systems.

Cause

  • MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) value is too small

  • MASSO Link requires MTU = 1500

Check MTU Value

  1. Open Windows PowerShell

  2. Enter: netsh interface ipv4 show subinterfaces

  • All active network interfaces should show MTU 1500

  • Ignore Loopback Pseudo-Interface

Set MTU to 1500: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Your interface name" mtu=1500 store=persistent

Examples:

WiFi: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Your interface name" mtu=1500 store=persistent

Ethernet: netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Ethernet" mtu=1500 store=persistent

General Troubleshooting

If MASSO Link will not connect, first check that you are using the correct version of MASSO Link for your MASSO software.
MASSO software v5.07 requires MASSO Link v2.12 or higher and will not work with older versions.

If you are running MASSO software v5.06 or earlier, update to v5.07 or higher.

If MASSO Link locks up, update to the latest main release of MASSO software (v5.13 or higher).

If MASSO shows Connected but MASSO Link will not connect, check that the IP address entered in MASSO Link matches the IP address shown on MASSO.

If you are using a Fixed IP address, try switching to DHCP by unticking the Fixed IP option. This removes issues caused by conflicting IP addresses or incorrect subnet and gateway entries.

If the connection works using DHCP, the problem is with the fixed IP settings.

MASSO Link v2.14 or higher allows you to connect using the MASSO serial number (for example G3-xxxxx) instead of an IP address.
This removes the need for a Fixed IP address.

To use this feature you must be running MASSO software v5.13 or higher.

Do not install MASSO Link in the C:\Program Files directory, as Windows permissions can cause problems.
Create your own folder in the root of the drive (for example C:\MASSO_Link) and install MASSO Link there, as shown in the setup videos.

Firewall settings can prevent MASSO Link from connecting to MASSO.
Temporarily disable the firewall to test the connection.

Be aware that anti-virus software may include its own firewall that overrides the Windows Firewall. If you have connection issues, temporarily disable anti-virus software to test.

If you are connecting MASSO to a managed Wi-Fi network, you may need to contact your network administrator, as access or IP address assignment may be restricted.

If MASSO Link will not start and you are using two monitors, turn one monitor off and start MASSO Link.
Move MASSO Link onto the active monitor and close it.

Turn the second monitor back on and restart MASSO Link.

When upgrading MASSO Link from an earlier version, the old MASSO_Link.dat file must be deleted.
If it is not removed, an error message will be displayed.

If you are using a Fixed IP address, ensure it is unique on your network.
Duplicate IP addresses can cause connection failures or random disconnections.
Using DHCP and the MASSO serial number connection method can eliminate this issue.

Ensure you are using the correct network mode for your setup.

The option is used only to create a direct point-to-point hotspot when no existing Wi-Fi network is available.

If using this mode, ensure the option is ticked on both MASSO and MASSO Link, and connect your PC to the MASSO hotspot.
If connecting to an existing Wi-Fi network, do not tick the “Make MyMASSO Network” option on either MASSO or MASSO Link.

Refer to the appropriate setup video for your network configuration.

MASSO Link on an Existing Wi-Fi Network

The following video shows how to set up MASSO Link on a PC.

The setup and operation process is the same across all platforms.

Use this method when you are connecting MASSO to an existing Wi-Fi network.

Make My MASSO Network

Use this method if you do not have an existing Wi-Fi network or if you want a direct point-to-point connection between MASSO and your PC.

This mode is standalone and cannot be used with the myWorkshop Pro App.
