1. Meaning of S

Tool	S value
Spindle	Spindle speed in RPM. Usually used with M3 or M4 to start the spindle.
Laser	Laser power as a PWM value from 0 to 1000, equal to 0 to 100% output.

2. Examples

Code	Result
N10 S10000	Spindle: sets 10,000 RPM. Usually followed by M3 or M4, on the same line or the next, to start the spindle.
N10 S500	Laser: sets 50% output.
