M667 – Plasma – Turn THC Function On
This command switches ON the THC automatic Z-axis control function in the plasma version.
Syntax & Parameters
M667Fvalue – Sets the Z-axis feed rate used to move the torch up/down in THC mode.
Example Program
N10 M667 F500 N20 G01 X1 F1000
Switches ON the THC function and sets the Z-axis feed rate during THC control to 500.
This G-code does not take effect until the next axis move.
Example Program
N10 M667 N20 G1 X1 F1000
Switches ON the THC function.
The THC feed rate uses the last value set for
M667. If no previous value has been set, it uses the maximum feed rate of the axis. This G-code does not take effect until the next axis move.
THC Feed Rate Issues
The THC feed rate determines the speed at which the Z axis moves to reposition the torch to the correct cutting height under THC control.
If the feed rate is too high, the Z axis may overshoot and the THC will reverse direction to correct the height.
In extreme cases, the Z axis can continually overshoot, causing the torch to hunt up and down during the cut.If the feed rate is too low, the Z axis may not climb fast enough to clear the material surface, which can cause the torch to collide with the material.
Use the THC feed rate slider on the Overrides page to adjust the THC feed rate in real time if required.
The current THC feed rate is displayed on the slider and can be used as a guide for setting the THC feed rate for future cuts on the same material.
THC Feed Rate Override
The current THC feed rate can also be viewed on the Plasma page and a new value can be entered in the box.
The new value remains active until it is overwritten by a new entry or a G-code command.
